I thought it was "NEW" Torq Thrust = conical, "OLD" Torq Thrust = shank.

Something else to consider is clearance. Not much room on a Torq Thrust for a 13/16 hex socket or lug wrench. You'll scratch your wheels.

For street use, I'd definitely recommend "tuner style" spline drive lug nuts. LIKE THESE (LINK)

Thats why they call the new ones TT-2's. The originals are Torque Thrusts and look very different.

Also easy to get the 'normal' style hex headed ones with a smaller, 3/4" head if you didn't want the look of the tuner ones perhaps. I've got them around/use them (but no pic handy to show for comparison) and they help as well, unless the lug pocket in the wheel is really small.

If the car has LH thread on one side still, that would limit you some though. (I have yet to see tuner nuts in LH thread, normal full 13/16" ones are easy of course though)

I don't know why spline locks are considered "Tuner" they were around in the early 80's back when the main import being altered was the mini truck... And back in the 80's Gorrila Locks were available in 1/2"LH... I just looked at their website & currently the offer LH in 12mm? Only...

Who knows on why the spline drive have gotten to be called tuner, but seems to just be how it is. (Probably because the newer wave of import cars using them on aftermarket wheels)

(Spline drive is the name on the invoice when buying them at least still )

On the LH 12mm nuts, I know Oz got Toyotas that used them..I've shipped some over in the past.

Pep Boys, Advance Auto, Napa only had 8,12 or 16 lug nuts not 20 and I wanted to get it on the road again. As suggested I went to the local customizing place... started by a 2nd generation Chinese immigrant kid that started detailing cars and moved up from there...pretty impressive operation he has now, they will work on everything and anything there from Hiundies to Lambos and Ferraris, with the occassional American muscle car lined up for something. Always some interesting cars on his lot when you drive by. They had the "tuner nuts", 20 with the wrench for $40. They worked great and look good...just need to keep the wrench in the glove box in case of flats...which reminds me that I need a spare and a jack too. Thanks for the heads up.
