Thanks. I don't know the wheelbase of any of these vehicles off the top of my head, but either platform will probably need tweaking. The LX is an auto trans, and the LC can take a T56 manual, so include that in your decision.

so because you're hacking it apart and have the tubing pieces on the sides, the actual measurements of the donor car doesn't matter much???!!! A friend of mine thought that the Charger would be better to use. Possibly easier to come by, cheaper for replacement parts,etc etc??

Sort of... Your not hacking it, you need to drill the spot welds at the front and rear pan joint. Your going to shorten the front pan to accommodate the wheel base. You are drilling the spots where the floor pan connects to the side rails as well. The tubing on the sides becomes the new side rails, so the pans stay intact and the same width as either donor car. I'm sure the LX cars are cheaper simply because they are older.

Don't mean "hacking" in a negative way.. Just a general phrase.. I've seen by your pics {and I know better} that you've drilled the spot welds. That's the only way to do it correctly..I am going to find a Charger and take some measurements of the body panels front to back and side to side for comparison of the Challenger. In the meantime, I'll check online for dimensional measurements {body shop} comparisons between the 2, for shiggels and gits..Do you mind if I ask,inquire,look for advisement,etc etc, in the future with certain aspects of the build if I go this direction?

Thanks and Merry Christmas. No the seats will be cut down 4" when it goes to upholstery. The owner new it would be an issue that would require mods. Remember the fuel tank is under the back seat and the LX car has a taller roof (believe it or not!), which is why the rear seat backs sit so tall.

Thanks, but that car of yours is sweet! A couple of throttle bodies and a Holley HP setup with boost control would make that 496 of yours pure like a kitten!

This is just breathtaking. It's been a while since I harassed you with my inquiries, so... I know that you used the mock-up body/wheels to locate body ride height. Did that also determine wheelbase? Did the LX wheelbase remain the same? If not, where did you take that out of the floor? Did you just overlap front and rear floors until you met the rear suspension position to achieve proper w/b? Sorry, just trying to absorb everything I can. I swear, If I was closer, I would beg for a tour.

No problem. I measured ride height with the stock SRT wheels. Measured overall diameter of the tires of the SRT and what the Roadrunner will use. Subtract this, divide in half and adjust jigs accordingly.
I used the wheels and tires that the RR will use and adjusted front and back in the wheel openings until the owner was happy. That determined the new wheel base. The front floor section sits under the rear and is spot welded from the factory. I took the difference between the two wheel bases and trimmed the front floor section the corresponding amount. Then overlapped it and welded it like the factory had it.

Yep, you lose about 6" off the front of the dash. The defrost duct will need to be reworked along with ducts or channel added to the dash to blow on the windshield.

how much would the difference in depth be between the RR and the Cuda. I'm thinking that the Cuda would have the needed depth for all that is behind the Charger dash??!! Correct?
