What makes the 3 rd gear shift in a reverse manual 727 shift in so hard? what is the modification needed to get that positive drop in rpm? It seems my 3rd gear has gone away from what it once was. this is an 11 second race car not street driven with a 4600 converter. Will a loose and slipping converter soften the shift?

The converter plays a big part in shift firmness. The looser the converter, or the smaller the converter the less shock it can transmit to the motor to drag it down quickly.
