Was a HOT weekend in Pomona, but was fun to race at a track with all it's history. Weather station was bad. 100.1*f, 28.77bar, 28%, 4671da Ran 10.33 @ 128.73 Best I ran in 84.4*f, 39.2% hum, 28.85bar, 3545' da gave me a new best on the car. 10.26 @ 129.9 with a 1.390 60',6.49 @ 104.6 1/8th (thru the tail pipes) Car has been quicker/faster to the 1/8th but old best 1/4 was 10.32 in 1750' air. I've been making changes to the Dart for more consistent 60' times and run better down track performance.(new 8" converter, trans gear set now 2.45 low) Was running Quick street (no E, full tree) quickest 64 cars, was in at #34. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif) 115 cars entered class Saturday afternoon a heads up car went into the wall hard, fire balled and oiled the track bad. After an hour+ clean up we were told it would be 1/8 mile the rest of the weekend.( ok by me) Sunday was a good day, lost the fuel pump just before 3rd round and had to buy 1 and install it in a hurry to make the call ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/panic.gif) . Went .003 on the tree 3rd round( was a little too up). 4th round ran a blown injected Camaro dialed at 4.91 to my 6.55, joked told him I would fender race him(he went by me at 40 mph) I ran a 6.568 to his break out 4.900. Man thats hard to judge 5th round raced another Irwindale/Fontana regular was sorry to see he had a problem at launch Gave it away in the final held the button and was dead late, would have been nice to get the Wally. All in all a good weekend even with the heat and a junk A1000 pump.

Sounds like a fun event. Good job making it to the final.
What was the bump at 64 cars?

Congrats on the new bests and the round wins. Always nice to have a new best and string some rounds together. BTW thats not hot ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif) I heard the track was not very good for many of the heads up guys. Seems like a lot of cars getting loose on Friday and Saturday for sure.

Not sure, where the 1/8th mile times ended up. Think around 7 flat. Someone else may know?

I do agree with you that the NMCA folks seemed very enthusiastic to have us there in Bakersfield. There were issues there as well but I expect some issues for a first time at a track for an organiartion. I am sure there is kind of a felling out process between track operators and personell and the sanctioning body. I am sure the first Hot Rod reunion was not as smooth as it is now either. The definitely seem to appreciate the fact we came out. I cannot speak for the bracket guys but I can tell you our treatment was first class in the heads up side.

I am sure the outcome of the Fontana thing will play a role in that question. I know they reached a settlement but not sure if anything has moved forward. I am sure that Promedia had some good contacts within the NHRA to make it happen. My guess is if Fontana is back up and going they will stay there as was the plan beofre it was closed down.

Some things they got right NMCA people acted like they were happy you came out. They tried to put on a show that moved along without big delays (dead time) Used a lot of the local track and tech guys Paid on the spot, check was ready when I got there
Some things they got (very) wrong Entry fee to payout ratio Disorganized entry to track How and where you signed in and how long that mess lasted in the heat ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flame.gif)
How about you?
It's nice to race with a group that does care! Things certainly didn't go like they wanted, but I will be giving them a second chance for sure. Given some of the hurdles that they had thrown in front of them, they at least responded quickly. I know some guys are pretty upset with them, but you can't please everybody. My biggest complaint was the the lack of communication. The radio station that they used was weak at best and not very understandable.
You going to their next race? If so, see ya there!!

From what I understand the issue with the radio station was the frequency that Pomona has occupied for years is now also occupied by a new local station. Apparently the PA was not real good either.
I beleive they have one more race on thier schedule as well in Phoenix at Speedowrld, provided it is still open. Heard they had some issue with the city/county.
We ran the event in Bakersfield. It was lightly attended to say the least. We were treated very well and the boss even spoke to us a coupl eof times as well as others making sure we had what we needed. My issue is the rules for the class we run. We have to make a good number of chages to the car as well as have gto ad more weight to fi tthier rules. We MAY run the Phoenix race but our focus will be to try and stay #1 in the PSCA Hot Street class..
As to Fontana. That woudl be next year. Everything for his year has been moved/cancelled in both NMCS and PSCA. As I say IF it gets done it will be an option. From what I hear they have some corporate help with paying for the wall IF they decide to proceed. I for one am not holding my breathe on that front.

Congrats to you, Rod! It was great to see that huge smile on your face, on Saturday morning, after you made your fastest pass. Very happy for you, but, I still dont understand that whole driving with two feet stuff, that you were showing me. Dummies like me only know how to slam the right foot down, than hit the brakes after the finish line. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh2.gif) Hope to see you soon. Chris
