I have an old aluminum water pump housing that I believe is 1964-1965. I found a photo and description on 440souce web page. But I have no idea if it is actually "rare" or valuable. Anyone with an idea?

2536767 ALUMINUM housing, Chrysler part # 2536725. This was used on 1965 S/S Race Hemis. Chrysler used the same basic tooling for these as they did for the iron 2205862 housing listed above, so on the upper part of the housing you will find that casting number. However, notice the additional tag added on the lower radiator hose outlet, listing the true casting number. Notice the absence of this tag on the above iron housing.

That for a 65 A990 car, ??? 64 Hemi ??? , the current MP offering is based off it but has added BOTH altentaor mount locations , early and late . I'd call it rare if it's the original 65 piece.

Further seaching turned up the same question asked a few months ago.

Moparts

But no apparent answer as to "how rare" and how "valuable".

Since they stopped using that style housing in 65 or 66 and considering regular passenger cars didn't get aluminium housings ...

So what is the question , is it rare ???

Or how much can I sell it for ??

If he's looking to retire off the sale of one part he needs to throw it on eBag and let it ride.

Rare?? It's a matter of opinion. They were still in the mopar parts books in 1975! I bought 2 from a local Plymouth dealer in 1974 for about $25 each.

There's your answer. They were among several "seemingly" megga rare parts that Mopar continued to sell over the counter for many years making them much more common than many people think, another good example are 1964 3705s Carter Carburetors (originally installed on some 63 and all 64 Max Wedge engines) but sold for at least 10 years afterwards over the counter as a replacement performance carburetor.

I am not really looking to sell it, but not sure what I would use it on or when. If it is worth something or considered desireable, I will probably keep it. If its "just another water pump housing", I may get rid of it just to quit storing so much junk.

Won't sell it on E-bay no matter what. If it goes, it will be to somebody that needs it for their dream car.

Interesting , I didn't know that ...

i bought one someone ground the numbers off and polished about 25 years ago for $25. I didn't know what it was , I bought it because it was aluminum .
