this is the 727 in my lil red express im at a loss and Hate to pay a mechanic when i proally screwed it up so here goes.
I needed a new trans gasket a month ago so i got one and filter while i was there. Trans has 40k miles and never been touched so i assumed i should go ahead and adjust the bands. followed the process "tightened adjuster down to 72 inch Lb then backed off 2 full turns. for both the 1-2 and R-3 adjustments. put the new filter in new gasket sealed the pan on and filled with fluid. no major issue. until i start to pull the truck out and it acts as if my parking brake is LOCKED down. i try forward gears same deal engine revs to 3500 rpm to even get moving and then it still feels like the brakes are holding. I checked all 4 corners for heat and even pushed the truck in Neutral to double check. i have since repeated the process double checking to make sure i did not over tighten when setting the lock nuts
I NEED HELP guys

Make sure the fluid level is correct, loosen the front band lock nut , tighten the center bolt down while holding the lock nut till it is "snug", back it off 2 1/4 turns and whle holding it, lock the oter lock nut down. It sounds like the front band is too tight, the rear band should be set at 2 1/2 turns. Fluid was checked in neutral, engine running, yes?

Re adjust the bands most torque wrenches at 72 inch pounds tighten the band a good turn to a turn and 1/2 too tight!

SO start with the kickdown band as it's out where you can get at it.
NOW loosen it off and tighten in with 5/16 wrench just to wrist snug then back it off 2 turns. tighten lock nut being sure you don't turn it in as nut tightens.

Then try it if still tight off comes the pan and same on rear band but back off 2 1/2 turns!

DO NOT TRY TO DRIVE IN THE MEAN TIME!!!

If you started the engine in Park instead of Neutral after the fluid change the converter isn't full, let it idle in Neutral for awhile and recheck the fluid level when warm and in Neutral.

I was once told the only ones that work well on low inch pounds are the needle type??
