What is the maximum recommended pressure used for leak testing? I have a small leak around the shaft seal at test pressure of 175 PSI.

When I reduce pressure to 100 PSI I cannot pick-up the leak with electronic leak detector. Because crankshaft seal is on low side of system where pressures should not reach 175 PSI, should I be concerned?

I plan on using R-12 to re-charge to get back to factory performance. I will be changing compressor oil back to mineral oil as well. The 134-A conversion just doesn't do the job.

great question...I'm very interested in the answer as my compressor is the last thing I have to rebuild on my R/T to get my factory A/C working again

What are you using to pressurize the system? If in doubt replace the seal with new.

I'm using a small amount of r-22 for trace gas, and pressurized nitrogen.

the R134a conversion should work fine of you adjust the expansion valve. most people i know that have done the conversion overfill the system and have bad results from that as well. i've converted a large number of cars and never had a problem getting 48-52 degree air out of the vents on a 90+ degree day.

I don't see any way to adjust the TXV on this model. This is a typical valve with power-head and remote bulb. Valve is not the block style. Learn me something new.

With R-12, I think supply temps 10 degrees less than what you mentioned are possible. Maybe I'm wrong but I have the R-12 to try it.
