Hi all, I recently looked at a car that interests me but the trunk lip numbers didnt match the rad support, vin, fender tag and bs. Theres no evidence of sheet metal replacement in that area, were these numbers ever incorrectly stamped or is it a rebody? thanks

The trunk number is stamped the same time the rad support is so unless there was a break , like thew weekend ? between the 2 stampings ...

Usually when one is wrong the other is and it's only a digit.

Is it off by a number or 2 or is it completely different ? Is the car is unrestored condition or fully redone ?

the car was restored supposedly about 10 years ago and the numbers arent even close. I assumed it was a rebody but wasnt 100% sure if there were ever mistakes on the stampings, thanks

I think there might be numbers under the rear package tray also depending on what year car this is. (core support, dash or doorjam, package tray and trunk lip)

Sounds like a re-body to me. Does it look like the rad support was replaced? Consider, though, that it was fairly common back in the 70s to put the front half of one car onto the back half of another for collision repair. All this does is cloudy up the car you are looking at. A full history of the car would clear things up.

My 67 Barracuda convertible trunk lip and rad support don't match, but there is strong evidence that the rad support was replaced back in the 1970s from a font end collision.

Hard to call it a rebody without seeing the car. If someone went to the trouble of doing a rebody and changing numbers you'd think they would have changed that number also or at least erased them???

It could have had the rear quarter replaced and whomever did it changed the trunk lip along with the quarter?

My Dart was crashed , it had half the core support replaced and the numbers are gone, and the left quarter is a used replacement but the trunk lip number was not touched, luckily ...

Not on a 69 B body , rad support and trunk lip only , aside from the VIN on the dash and the fendertag.

If the car was restored then it would be hard to tell what was done , especially if the car was done concourse incorrect with everything painted that never was originally. What the trunk lip number from a car built at the same plant at least ?

either way something was replaced ...
