So I have the metal valley pan gasket (Fel-Pro) that came with the black sealant RTV. I used this sealer around all ports on the head and on the ends where the bars clamp the ends down. Now I am not sure whether I should have used maybe a copper sealer (gas resistant) or none at all around the ports on the head. I don't want to get this sealer into my engine, should I be ok doing it this way or should I pull it apart and clean up the sealer and reinstall? Thanks for info, Jay

Did you use any gaskets on the ports, or just the bare pan?

I had trouble sealing mine, then got the felpro HP with heat cross over blocked.

it came with 4 gaskets, pan, black rtv sealer.

I put the gaskets on around the ports dry..gasket/pan/gasket/intake/rtv across end rails and dabbed it in the 4 corners good.

sealed it right up that go round and made a world of difference with it not leaking.

some say just use the pan,but mine would leak every time that way.

not sure if the regular VP comes with the gasket, but the HP one with block off did.

after 4-5 times pulling the intake for vac leaks,I will only use the HP with gaskets from now on myself.

and I would clean the head and itake then install them dry with rtv on the end rails only.

good luck.

You should be fine as long as you didn't goop ther sealer around the ports.

Rtv will be fine , assuming the angles of everything are correct , but wait till you have to valley pan and have to scrape all that RTV OFF ...

What I did was #1 Put RTV around ALL the ports on the heads and on the ends then put the valley pan on #2, Then I put the intake on top of the valley pan bare. Everything has just been machined and true with iron heads and iron intake, I just want to be sure the rtv that may have seeped a little around the valley tray will not get dissolved with the gas going through the intake and fouling anything else up. This is just speculating on what I have seen posted on the internet (after the fact of putting my intake on). If I'm understanding these other posts correctly. Thanks for all the help! Jay

A little RTV going through the a running engine will burn up instantly and not hurt a thing.

Are you sure or hoping DO NOT let anything solid get into your motors cylinders or valve train A small piece of silicone stuck into the ringlands will sieze them rascals right up and end up scoring the cylinder walls, go into any major shop or dealer ship that does engine overhauls and they wll tell you this from firsthand expereinces They may not tell the customer what the actual cause of the damages where but they know Same thing on silicone getting across the spark plug gap, it quits firng, that cylinder starts using oil and WA LA, problems
