Last night the factory 904 lost second gear. It shifts from 1st to 3rd. If the shifter is in 2nd position then there is nothing. Drained the fluid, changed fitler, fluid and added a quart of TransX. Is there something else that can be done to get it through the driving season?

2nd gear is a function of the kickdown (front) band, if adjusting it doesn't bring back 2nd gear there is something broken or missing.

I have done this a few times with my junk.
its done when there is no more adjustments.
I have also drove from Fl to Arkasas then back with 1st and 3rd then adjust it to get 2nd back for one last run at the strip before it was toast.

When I had the pan off today all I saw in it was very small pieces of what I believe to be clutch material. I have a manual that probably tells me how to adjust bands- I'm guessing it is no big deal to do? I serioulsy doubt this transmission has ever had the bands adjusted so hopefully there is some adjustment available.
