1970 Charger with electronic regulator charges 14.2 Volts measured at the battery at fast idle. The problem is when sitting at a stop with your foot on the brake in gear, the turn signal goes very very slow.Under this condition,I measured 13.0 V at the battery.Any suggestions?

that is pretty much it, if you have a stockish alt.
even the 78 amp one doesn't really help at idle.
most people upgrade to the 120/140 amp type alt's to get better charging at idle.

honestly I would not worry about it, unless you sit at idle a lot.

Yep, typical, although I would look over the charge wire and especially the connections at the firewall and amp gauge carefully.
There is also the MAD Electrical modification for safety, IF your car is a driver, not a original OE factory vehicle.

Just had an over charging issue with my 70 Charger last weekend of some sort I think. I have been chasing a missing issue. I thought it was within the carbs. I was holding the RPM's at around 3500ish to listen for the miss & then all of the sudden my Amp gauge pegged, my after market Autometer monster tach pegged at 9500 (even though still at 3500), wipers turned on one time all by them selves, radio was off but a turbo whistling sound came thru my speakers, my driver side door was open & all of my interior light bulbs blew out but the fuse is still good. I shut it off as soon as all of this happened & tried to start back up & now everything is dead. I disconnected the battery & the Tach is still stuck on 9500+ RPM's even wth no power. Haven't touched it since so I am not sure what happened yet.

I think something full fielded the alt & now the fusible link may be open. I'd suspect the regulator 1st and check the green field wire for a short

Thanks. I still haven't even looked at it. Just discourage, so I had to walk away from it for a little while.

The factory wiring and amp gauge is not rated for that much currnet , one would have to make some major wiring changes to do that .

What the OP is seeing is NORMAL .
