I replaced the 33 tooth speedo gear with a 32 tooth gear in my 727 transmission. Now when I drive down the road, my needle bounces all over the place.

I was wondering what could be causing this? It didn't do it before I swapped the gears, and there didn't seem to be anything wrong with the new/used gear that I put in? No missing or damaged teeth.

It's already 95 degrees here, so I'm letting the exhaust cool down before I crawl back under there.

Any ideas?!? Thanks for any and all help!!

Check that the cable is correctly seated on both ends

Also make sure there are no kinks or sharp bends in the cable. Sometimes you have to move the cable around so it stops.

Thanks guys. It got up to 101 today and after working on the car Friday night and Saturday afternoon, I decided to let it sit today.

I'll pull the cable back out later in the week and see if I can see any trouble?
