Yesterday i went to open my trunk and the key just turns. It seems the nut has come loose from the open rod that goes to the latch. Is there a way to open the latch from outside the car? None that I know of. I have removed the back seat and divider panel but with the cover over the latch assembly its still to far in there to reach especially with the spare tire in the way. I can move the spare tire around but my short arms dont reach. Any ideas? Im sure this has happened before to some other lucky individual.

I believe with a socket you can remove the bolts that secure the latch to the tailpanel via the rear seat. That will buy you enough lift of the trunk lid to unlatch it.
Course you're gonna need about three feet of extentions, and the spare could be a problem

Remove rear seat.

Tape a standard screw driver with a slim point to a broom handle.

Insert tip into lock slot & turn.

Never mind I got it! thanks for the help guys. I was able to move the spare to the other side of the car (WAB). I ended up taking out the screws on the cover and tripping the latch. This nut is getting some loc-tite. Now for the restore then I can work on the Charger.
