I have a 64 Valiant with a 360 engine and a points distributor with a set of accel points with heavy springs. I want to change over to the new MSD system that allows me to add their unit in my distributor. I want to know if anyone out there has made this change and how satisfied they are with the results. Also do I need to bypass the ceramic resistor? I already have msd wires and the msd coil. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance! P.S. what rpms will the msd unit rev?

Why dont you get a remaned factory style electronic dist and do a HEI conversion? Much cheaper and good for more RPM than your engine can turn..Or get 1 of the E Bay versions..

I am truckless..

get a pertronix points conversion and one of the flamethrower coils

by-pass the BR for a full 12 volts to the conversion and all hid under the dist cap.

any Idea what to rpm range is on the pertronix III with rev limiter? I would like to have up to 6 or 7000 rpm.

the ignitor I like I run is good for that rpm.

all my junk slings a rod or floats a valve before it runs out of spark

been in the 6200 to 6500 rpm range on my junk, its 15 yrs old and has never gave any trouble, been pulling street duty daily.

I run the 40,000 volt flame thrower chrome coil.

never had a reason to try the II & III setups.

maybe you should look at the firecore ready to run dist with a set of the firecore wires. he is a member and sponcer here IIRC.

good result posted back on that one.

I have used 8-9 ignitor I conversion and all have been flaw less and trouble free fixing at lot of smog era mopar ign crap outs.

run it on my 85-318 & 88-440 truck by-passing the stock elct ign, by useing the points dist and conversion.

simple,cheap,reliable

Thanks I Ordered the Pertronix III with rev limiter range 4 to 9 thousand rpms pre set at 5500. I got the best deal from Advance Auto Parts! They were between $40 and $60 cheaper than all others! Price shipped to my door $112.67 Thanks again!
