I believe the spec is .004 per inch of bore... I like to make the second ring .004 larger than the top so it doesnt hold any pressure

On my 4.377 bore big block I set the top at .018 and my second at .027 per Pettis`s recommendation.............he`s fnding that the larger than normal second ring gaps work very well in most applications.

I did mine at .022, .024 per Wiseco recomendations. The gap isn't as important as making sure the second ring is a couple thousands wider gap. The wider gap on the 2nd ring helps prevent ring flutter.
Yeah, it's got a smallblock.
