Restoring the tail panel on my 70 Charger 500 and the original holes were filled in poorly by previous owner and "500" replaced with the standard Charger script with medallion emblem.

I've stripped it down and located the holes;

Question is, the "Charger" and "500" appears to be separate? If separate, where can I get a "500" badge? Or both?

The "500" on the grill IS larger than what would be on the rear.

Stripped entire panel with a 24 hour soak in Brake Fluid;

Any recommendations on what detergent/cleaner to use to rid of any residual brake fluid or contaminants before priming and painting?

brake clean...spray it on a rag..wipe. the wash it w/ soap and water rinse..dry paint. Heres mine after a coat of new satin black.

Here's some updates for anyone interested in future 70 charger restos

Used the existing Left 2 mounting hole for "Charger" script and had to modify slightly the Right 2 mounting holes to mount the Repo ($30 on Ebay) "500" script.

Also, note the Emblems aren't quite centered; Could this have been an R/T tail panel?

On second pic (installed with no tail light gaskets yet) you can see the light housing is off a bit, i'll be widening out mounting the holes on final install.

Your panel looks correct for a 500 panel, I have 2 untouched/original Charger 500 panels, both look identical as to how you've finished yours with regards to the script placement

I stripped mine with Brake clean on my R/T 22 years ago & repainted it. Still looks good. My other 70 is a 500 S.E. & has this same tail panel.

Appears to be seperate. Here is a picture of my other 70 500 S.E. panel. Car is all original & in rough condition.
