The terminal on my sending unit broke off; can it be repaired after removal from the tank? I would think I could simply add a new terminal and reconnect everything.

Anyone ever had this happen and were you able to repair?

what part broke off , the little stud at the end or the entire plastic standoff.

Either way you should be able to fix it .

The terminal stud broke off inside the tank where the sending unit metal strap connects to the stud. Basically, the connector and what was left of the stud came out of the sending unit housing. I think I can fix it but it will take some care as the stud is insulated from the metal with a plastic grommet to keep it from grouding to the tank.

It is a pain not having a gas gage!!!

Here is a picture of the broken stud; the outside connector is good but the inside portion is what is broken off. I can only assume it is in the bottom of the gas tank.

You can fix that with a machine screw of the same size but you'll need to make the nut round or trim the plug to clear the points of the hex nut. But yes the rest is inside the tank , you'll need the other plastic piece that is inside .
