Cast cranks were used in '70 383 2-barrel engines when mated to an automatic.

Most sources claim the 383 cast crank didn't arrive until '71 but '70 was the first year.

whats the assembly date of the engine ? are you calling it a 70 because of the CASTING date ?

but as John K states , 383 2 bbl motors got cast cranks , I have no clue when that started

Stamped F383 makes it a '70.

I just took a virgin "F" 383 apart-casting date is 7- tewnty something -69

383 2 barrel out of a newport. It has a steel crank and internal style balancer.

Very early 70 model year could have had steel cranks
