I'm looking for information on the battery trays for original untouched Hemi E-Bodies. Our 70 Hemi Challenger had the corner lopped off the corner closest to the engine. Any other untouched original examples of Hemi E-Bodies with the battery tray modified in this way?

I guess if there are examples, scheduled production dates would be useful as well.

Thanks for the input!

Here is a untouched car and the tray is uncut. I have heard of this before but it was always done after the fact.

....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

Sounds like it had aftermarket covers on it at one time and the owner decided to do a little trimming. I have done the same thing to my tray in my gtx.

I'm in the middle of that right now. I am welding up a shorter tray to clear my Stage v Barton covers. I would like to see what others have done to modify their battery trays to clear the cast covers.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking it was probably a clearance move in the car's early life due to headers or valve covers, but wanted to double-check.
