I have a header clearence problem on a 1971 Demon as the collector area only clears the ground about 2.5 inches. How much can you raise the car with the torsion bars without compromising the way the car corners and drives on hills and curves?

the more you raise the car the stiffer the suspension gets---means handling gets better---when you get older you can soften it back up---bob

check your tranny mount, when it goes bad or starts to...it lets the rear of the trans sag. which moves your collectors closer to the ground.....

No.

Changing the torsion bar height screw does not effect spring rate nor affective wheel rate.

If you weigh 150 lbs and stand on a 150 lbs coil spring it will collapse 1". If you put a 4"x4" on top of the spring, you stand on the spring again, and the spring will still only collapse 1". The spring rate did not change. Only difference is you are standing 4" higher.

Now, the way a car rolls and leans to one side in a corner is called roll. That happens when the center of gravity of the car acts as a lever arm on the roll center geometry of the cars suspension. The heigher the center of gravity, the longer the lever arm, and thus the more car roll.

I'd raise it up as you do need additional clearance but I believe that will mandate a realignment

See if your motor mounts have gotten soft also. Not as much of an effect as the trans mount, but some.
