Thanks Brian

I used RMS rack& pinion in my dart. They advised to use 62-65 b body tti headers. They fit really well. Price seemed to be about the same at any store. Might save on shipping from someone that is close.

tti asks all their dealers to sell their products for the same price and you can't get cheaper going directly to tti.

Call Troy, he'll take care of you the best he can ...

The Hedman 2-1/4" HEMI A-body headers fit great if you set the engine back 2", and convert from T-bars to coil overs. Unfortunately, that means a whole lot of extra work. Ask me how I know.

Here's pics of Troy install.

Just lower the 1968 Dart body right over the Hemi engine, headers, and K-frame assembly. Then go get some tacos for lunch.

The KEY is to put the crankshaft centerline in the exact place TTI calls out in the instructions.

Critical engine crank centerline dimensions. I'd think this picture would be up on the www.ttiexhaust.com website too??

Note: this is with the special repro 68 Hemi A-body K-frame to chassis spacers/washers.

Wish they would start using V-bands at the collectors and ditch the gaskets some day.

No the MP/Edelbrock castings.

I asked them about this and they said that they will build you a set if you like.

....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

Great thread!
I installled a Hemi with the Stage V heads and used Hooker Super Competition Headers into a '67 "A" Body.

These had 2 1/4" Primaries and 4" collectors.

I too had to mount the motor 2" back from the normal position in order to clear the stock steering. I also had to cut back a good portion of the Pass side Shock mount and re-postion the Shock, but I think there is little alternative to doing this unless you never want to take the valve cover off.....

Even worse, I had to notch both Frame rails to get the headers in without flattening them to within an inch of their lives!!!
They STILL needed a good beating around the Torsion bar area.
I don't want to do that again.

I also used a motorplate. The "K" Frame had to be spaced down 1" as well - the Lower Control Mounts really loved that too!!!

Stupidly, I am thinking of doing this again on a '67 Barracuda, but so NOT want to notch and box the frame rails again.

Does anyone know if the TTI headers will fit Stage V heads AND also fit underframe style without any frame rail work and still use OEM steering / Torsion bars?

Thanks!

Just called TTI for a set of headers with oem torsion bars and stage v hemi heads with raised exhaust. THEY DO NOT MAKE THEM NOR WILL THEY.
Not too sure why since this is becoming very popular.
I will be doing custom headers when the time comes shortly.

I have used the TTi headers in both my 440 Dart and my 65 coronet hemi car.
They work, fit and look great!
I have not tried using the multitude of other brands as of later.
I know the difference in quality compared to Hooker or Hedman is obvious as far as flange thickness and overall fitment.
I'm sure if they have an A Body's Hemi set, you would be happy with them.

Not surprised by the response, though clearly dissapointing

Still, I would rather know that then spend loads of $$$$$'s only to find the ball pein hammer comes out again on some ceramic coated headers!!!

Sounds like another Hack job as I would be re-using the Stage V heads on the next project.

Maybe I would be better switching to a "B" Body to save the grief; tho "A" Bodies are my first love, it gets to the point where is it just too much of a pain just to win a tin cup......

Just wondering how much "taller " the Stage V raised exhaust ports are than stock?

The reason I ask is I think you would be money ahead buying hooker or headman and modifying them VS cutting up the more expensive TTI

Headmans used to be ~$450 thru MP - mine were made in Georgia

I know the SS/AH guys pay around $5K for custom headers

I have 2 65 B-Bodies and my buddies keep telling me to just put the hemi in one of them - so I hear your pain !

Best of Luck to you

PS try Dawson headers - They built a set of Stage V raised port headers for a friend with a 64 Plymouth years ago - nice quality - don't know if they do A Bodies
