Hey I have a 1964 Plymouth Valiant with a built 360 under the hood that I am currently running 1970 model 340 exhaust manifolds on. I would love to change to headers and have chased down several leads like Harold Johnson with Spitfire and a few others. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would love to find a set of shorty headers that would fit. My heads have the dual bolt pattern and are the W2 Econo Series heads. Thanks

Not sure about the W-2 heads, but I'm running the Doug's D-Dart (part # D-450) on my 360 powered 63 Valiant. Started out with a borrowed set of 340 manifolds, then switched to Spitfires a decade ago when my buddy wanted his manifolds back, then stepped up to Doug's in 2006 when I built the new engine.

My only complaint is they're 3-piece (front & rear tubes are separate), so I'm constantly fighting an exhaust leak in the slip connectors just above the collector. Also won't work with 4-speed.

Only other choice that I know of is TTI, but they're move $ and require a custom starter. They won't fit with the Chrysler mini-starter.

Do you still have that set of shorty headers by spitfire?

???? their part listing can't be right. The 63-66 A-body frame rails are tighter than the 67-69's. The passenger side is close, but the driver's side is very different and I've never seen a single exhaust manifold/header that will fit both generations.

Bet they are fenderwell headers

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

my manifolds are off of a 1970 340 dart and have the 2.25 outlets and they fit my 1964 Valiant with a few mods on the pass side. I had to hammer in the shock tower area on both sides about 1/4 inch and then you have to slide the manifold bolts into their holes before you drop the manifold in place especially the longer ones in the center. Believe me they will fit and theres only a quarter inch of clearence in the center near the shock tower. I also used an angle oil filter adapter and the short fram 1/2 qt oil filter. I will also add that I am using the Schumacher Motor mount kit! These manifolds worked great with the t/a 340 heads I ran for 12 years but the W2's have a D shaped port and the manifolds restrict the exhaust flow. IF ANYONE HAS A GOOD SET OF HAROLDS SHORTY HEADERS FOR SALE PLEASE RESPOND or any other ideas on where to look!
