I have a set of stock 1965 273 adjustable rockers installed on my 360 powered Dart. They tend to loosen up over time. There are no jam nuts on the stock setup. I think that the original factory idea was to have an interference fit between the adjuster and the rocker threads. The thread is 3/8-24. I have some thin 3/8-24 hex nuts. Do I need to have the rockers spot faced before using the hex nuts as jam nuts? I am concerned about the nuts actually coming loose and coming off of the adjuster screw. Any other suggestions to maintain the rocker adjustment?

Id face the tops for the locknuts just for safety sake. OR maybe you could spike them to get the interference fit back..

I am truckless..

Very carefully squeeze them in a vise. Or use a Vice-Grips. Go something like 1/4 turn past snug.

No problem whatsoever. Comp springs, retainers, and keepers. No rotators.
