Got some slop in the steering gear of the wifes Durango. Has had it since it was on warranty but the dealer couldn't find it. Said it was "Swaybar links"

Is there an adjustment???

Or do I just R&R it?

What year Durango?
First thing to look at are the steering shaft u-joints from the column to the gear.

I'm sorry just now saw that its an 04.
The sway bar links won't give you alot of slop just extra body roll and some noise over uneven bumps.

BTW it has a steering rack and has no adjustment.

Yeah, I knew that was a lame response when my wife past it on to me.

So no adjustment. Bummer, looks like it's all internal to the rack assembly then. I'll look into the cost of a replacement then. Wish I would have had time to push the dealer harder back when it was under warranty.

Thanks for the input.

Just checking on this thread.

I'll take a specific look at that. It could be it, that slop can be felt when shifting the tires fore & aft from either side when it is up off the ground. It makes sense.

Thanks guys!

Are you sure that the inner and outer tie rods are OK? Have someone look at them when you do that.

Thanks guys!

I looked at those pretty well and the slop was internal to the rack or at the column. It was pretty tight through the rack from left to right and right to left.

But I can check it again.
