Ok,

I'm looking at a set of the orginal Crager s/s for the Barracuda, grant you I'm not sure of the back spacing yet, but lets just say the rims are 14" with the normal steel rims size 5.5" what is the largest tire size if the best case scenerio was mine can I fit in a 66' Abody?

Thanks,
Joe

easiest all 4 corners would be 205/70/14 approximately E70-14s
215/70/14s should fit approximately F70-14s
I think the Cragar SS sbp mags will be 14x6.0"

the largest "stock" tires (Formula S or HD suspension req'd) were 6.95-14 aproximately 185/75/14

If you're thinking about new wheels, the 15x7 sbp Cragar SS's actually fit better than the 14x6's, as the 7's have more backspacing.

I had 235-60-14's on the rear of my 65 Barracuda with sbp 14" Cragars, and one side would rub the inner fender going around any kind of curve if I had passengers in the back seat. The same tires cleared fine on factory Rally wheels. Since factory tolerances were somewhat variable, your experience might differ.

I now run 225-60-15's on 15x7 sbp Cragars and have plenty of clearance everywhere with any kind of load.

Wow! Thanks for the input.
I spoke to the guy who is selling them and they are 14X6 with 3.5" back space. I wanted to go 225/70-R14 which should fit quiet nice. and look ok on this /6 powered car. I dont really need alot of traction, just good look for this car I'm building just to daily drive from Spring to fall.

Anyone have pictures to post of their wheels on a 64-66 A body, I'd love to see them.

I tried a Cragar 14x7 rim with a P225/70R-14 on my 65 Barracuda and I found that the front tire would rub the fender without much of a turn. I'm not sure of the backspacing right now. It could be that the tight fit is due the upgrade from 9" drums to slider disc brakes, which gives a wider track.

Earlier A-bodies will have problems with the speedometer calibration with such a large tire as the earlier transmissions only had a minimum speedo pinion tooth count of 16.

I ended up going with 215/70R14 Cooper Cobra GT's on the Cragers. I am excited to install but I ordered new lug bolts and center caps from Summit. Cheap enough for sure but I can wait. Thank you for all your help MoParts!
