Got a Garage Pass today for Father's Day and decided to make a bit of headway on reassembling my 383.

Figured I'd check the crank fit so pulled out my new Clevite main bearing set and opened up the factory service manual. According to the FSM, the upper main bearing halves for the number 2,4, and 5 caps are interchangable but the number 1 bearing is not interchangable as it is supposedly chamfered on the tab side for timing chain oiling. However, I saw no difference in the four upper bearing halves in my set. Am I missing something, or are the current bearing sets manufactured so that the 1,2,4 and 5 bearings are now considered interchangable???

If all four of the narrow bearings have the same part number they will fit in all four places, if one is different put it in the front BTW, I haven't seen a set that had the three different part numbers on them in a lot of years
