Hi, I'm rebuilding my engine & I need to replace the main crankshaft bearings in my engine (572 Hemi), as their pretty much shot, good news is crank is fine.
Old bearings are Clevite M Series, which according to their web site have a 0.006" Babbitt lining on a hard steel back & primarily used on engines which have large crankshaft deflection. Under these conditions the bearings have a short life & should be checked frequently '
I can understand the deflection as I was running a 14-71 blower previously, but as I have now switched to Twin turbo, I was thinking of switching to an alternative bearing.
I was looking at the V Series, which according to the Clevite web site have a lead/indium overlay, what ever that means ? or should I go with a K type bearing ?
The more I read, the more I get confused
Can you help in advising me what type of main bearing to go for.
Car will be street driven, 572 KB with Twin 4788's, hp & Boost TBC
Thanks, Mark . . .

Who's crankshaft and what diameter do the journals measure?
What oil will you be running, and what clearance in the rods and mains?
What type of rods?
How often is this driven and raced?

Crankshaft: Callies Forged Crank, 4.500" Stroke
Crank Journal: 2.1992/3" - few tenths down, Crank Mains: 2.7494/5" - Also a few tenths down (Not measuring in the best conditions)
Previously clearances were; Mains: 0.0028", Rods 0.0027"
Rod bearings are fine, my main issue is with the main bearings. I think this is partially caused by the blower belt tension, no crank support.
Rods: Oliver Billet 7.100", ARP 3.5 Bolts
OIl, I don't use synthetic, tend to stay with Valvoline
This is a car is street driven, previously running 14-71 EFI, blah, blah, now switched to Twin turbo. Raced when I can get to the track, may only be 4 times year. Previous best in street trim was 9.1, never reached full potential, before I switched

I run a KB 440 based 118mm Turbo'd 572 pump gas engine dynoed at 1500~rwhp. I also run a callies crank and use oliver max billet rods too.
Just put a new set of bearings in on my freshen up. Sealed Power 142M on mains Clevite CB743hxn for rods. Had CB743vndx's before and they looked good but went to the H's this time on the rods.
