Rebuilding the 360 in my pickup. Low buck with new cast pistons and cast iron rings. Standard bore. What is the recommended ring end gaps?

Who's rings? Call them and ask. Newer theory is to make the 2nd ring the same or bigger, to release any trapped gasses that get past the top ring, and to prevent lifting the top ring from too much pressure between the 2 rings.

Error on the side of caution. Too big is no real problem, too small is a huge problem.

Thanks guys. I would rather be safe than sorry. I only want to do this once.

I have heard that as well as the theory that a wider second ring gap promotes better ring seal due to less flutter when the second ring encounters pressure from underneath/the crankcase.
I gapped my 440 to .018 top and .22 on the second rings, as per the instructions that came with my rings.
.004 top ring
.0055 second ring.
