Snag a few parts out of the Speedway catalog. A Sweet or CRC pump with a divorced tank could be put together for a couple hundred bucks. A bit more if you get the aluminum parts and get fancy with the hoses and add a cooler.

It is clear from BergmanAutoCraft that the box is smaller than the factory power steering box, but is it smaller in every dimension? Is is smaller than the stock manual box?

I ask because I really want power steering with my 6.1L Hemi, but can't afford a rack and pinion conversion.

Regards,

Joe Dokes

I dont have a man box to compare. However, if it fits with TTI headers and a gen III hemi, thats a nice combo.

I can read the dimensions, but without the dimensions of the factory manual box to compare them to, they are worthless. I was hoping someone had a manual box laying around that they could measure, or had this new Borgeson box and a manual box that they could lay side by side and make some comparisons.

I do but it's in the car, and the car is in storage because I'm building a new garage. In order to get accurate measurements I'd have to pull the box and take some measurements. Since the car is in storage I'd have to tow the car home, pull the box, take a bunch of measurements, reinstall the manual steering box, load it back on the trailer, put it back in storage.

Doing all of that would kill an entire day, maybe an entire weekend, depending upon how easy it is to pull the box.

This is why I asked the question. I have this sneaking feeling that until someone actually tries to install the box in a car with a set of TTI headers and a Gen III hemi we won't really know the answer.

I am approximately a year from rebuilding the front suspension on my car and installing a new steering box. I am either going to try the Borgeson unit, or if I'm pretty sure it won't work, I'll buy a flaming river manual box unit. Either way the factory 24:1 manual box has got to go. I'd prefer the 14:1 power unit, but will settle for a 16:1 manual if I have to.

Joe Dokes

I have the 16:1 manual FR box and it is "fatter" than a stock manual. The problem area,if there is one, is gonna be pointy end of the triangle shaped plate on the input end. Im with you my car is in the garage but I still havent measured for difference.
