I need a 70 Hemi Shaker Base that fits Large top Carburetors such as Carter or Edelbrock with 5 1/8' Top. Is Ben Snobar's parts the only option for this?? How is his service and quality???

There are a couple vendors selling the large opening reproduction base plates, however all of the steel versions are similar in price (EXPENSIVE!) you can shop ebay to get a feel for what they run.

Your other option is Hemi clone carburetors (also expensive). I build them to order and sell quite a few to those who want a stock appearing setup that costs many times less than an original set of Hemi carbs cost. These not only look very much like original Hemi carburetors, they also fit the factory inline intake manifolds (that's an original Street Hemi intake they are resting on in my pic) and accept all of the factory style Hemi inline dual 4 small parts, linkage, fuel lines, air cleaners, etc. and modern Edelbrock jets and rods can be used to tune them. Available in 600 cfm, 750 cfm, and 800 cfm sets.

For what it's worth here is the factory spacing and carb throat size. Be sure to check all dimensions of whichever you buy to be sure it works with your combo! (Original non shaker 1970 Base Plate, all 66-71 Street Hemi Base plates share the same carb spacing).

Quality is subjective, especially since they are not 100% original, etc. that said IMO they are (in general) well made and are stamped steel like originals were.

Fitment will depend (greatly) on what combo you are fitting them to. Clearance issues concerning carburetor add ons (linkage, fuel lines, etc.) have been voiced by a few buyers I know. Some of which may be blamed on the stock Edelbrock carburetors used and thier larger throats, lack of factory Hemi fuel line locations, unique Hemi only throttle linkage side arms, and progressive linkage pieces. IMO you should be getting those details from the seller themselves, they SHOULD know thier own products the best.

I am revising my base for that application now in a one piece. Price will be $215. Snobars are nicer of course. Mine are nice for fiberglass. Btw I have one of his shaker rings for sale (for cheaper) pm me for details. Also, I have a fiberglass center section that could be used with the steel ring I'm selling.
