Ok my little brother has a 1979 Dodge aspen.

He just had his transmission rebuild using a 727 non lock up rebuild kit. I find out its a lock up 727.

Does he need to tear it back apart ?
Is there an easy fix just to make it a non lock up trans ?
What's the best route ?

Thanks !

Since he used a non lock rebuild kit is there any key areas that might have not been included in the kit ? I've heard seals in the pump are different ?

He has a non lock up torque converter which I'm guessing will not work in a lock up transmission ?

Thanks

The parts are basically the same. Most rebuild kits come with all the seals to cover a multitude of years and both types of the trans. The lockup differences are the input shaft assembly, the front pump, the valve body and the convertor, everything else is the same, clutches and such don't care which trans convertor type it is. The converters DO NOT interchange, don't try to put it on it may get stuck.
