Have him call NCS (National Coatings, formerly CarQuest's body & paint supply); they're the DuPont reps, and Gary is the area guy. His base/office is in Spokane.

I was told a year ago by my local paint jobber here in Arizona that Centari was no longer avalible due to not being able to meet VOC requirments. Nason acrylic enamal is part of Dupont and was the only thing sold. It's not Centari, but it laid down nice. Not sure of it's durability compaired to Centari.

Scott, there's a Sherwin-Williams auto paint store here in Tacoma that handles Centari. I sprayed it for years.

O/T why centari? We called that stuff pigshit twenty years ago because of its smell. Any urethane based paint is better than that stuff by 100 miles.

You believe what you like, some of us still like Centari....

Cars I painted 25+ years ago in Centari that still look fresh tells me it's not so bad... This car was painted in 96 & it still looks better than allot of cars that were painted a year or two ago....

I love Centari.

I use it in my cabinetry business when I integrate metal into the project.

I just bought twelve pints of 793S for $10/each, a supplier was dumping it because it's soon to be phased out.

He's going to let me know when the toners are slated to be shipped back to Dupont. He hinted to get my color codes ready.

Your experience differs from mine. I painted my 71 RT in GY9 Centari with Centari 780 clear in 1987 and the paint looks better than any urethane job I've seen. Laid down like glass, grabbed solid, and still looks fresh after 25 years.

I contacted the Spokane rep and was told that it had been phased out a while ago and has now been replaced by another Dupont paint, thier Nason line, which he claimed is just as good if not better?

Has anyone sourced it recently to find out differently?

Nason FUL-CRYL II acrylic enamel is what he's speaking of.

FUL-CRYL II in the Raleigh, NC area has the same VOC's as Centari, which is 5.0

But soon, Centari will be gone, and FUL-CRYL II's VOC's are going to drop to around 3.5

The WA area might already be stocking 3.5?

Centari is highly pigmented, and its activator 793S has more isocyantes to trigger it.

Nason, not so much. A little thinner and uses 483-11 activator. And soon to be much more a "high-solids" once the VOC's drop.

Ultimately, and from what I've heard, FUL-CRYL II will be phased out too, and everything condensed into the Imron fleet-paint line. Which is a good paint all in its own, IMO.

I'm not a fan of a high-gloss clears on classic cars anyway.

Scott, if you run out of options, I can get my local paint supplier to mix you up a gallon or two of Centari (5.0 VOC), the 793S activator, and the 8022 reducer.

How it gets to WA is another story.

UPS limits class 3 flammables to 1 liter/per package (just over 2 pints).

Maybe Fedex or a trucking company can ship larger quantities of hazardous material.

What's the color code?
