When riding in my dad's 2009 Charger R/T, I felt as though he was not very smooth with the throttle, almost jerky.
When driving it myself a few times recently, there isn't much throttle travel, or a smooth transition from maintaining a constant speed to easing off to slow down a bit. Maybe the best way to describe it is that light throttle is on or off, nothing in between. Then you feel engine-braking that resembles applying the brakes. Is this what all of the Hemi 5-speed Auto's feel like? I'm not sure if it makes sense or not, but I should be able to maintain constant speed without making the passengers sea sick.

I have an '07 Charger and agree with the engine/tranny braking,and have complained about it when the car was in for service. Mo change of course.
In regards to the throttle response I don't have that kind of issue with my car, but did take some getting used to. The car 'learns' as you drive and maybe its learned some bad habits. There are ways to reset the learning and pedal response, for that matter tranny shifting too.
Any time my passengers are getting sick it usually due to my driving, and is intentional.

Thank you, at least I know I'm not the only one. It would be interesting to find out what it takes to reset the pedal response, then drive my normal style to see how it feels.
The engine/transmission braking is very noticable and annoying.

To reset the adaptive learning, you have to unhook the battery. There is also a fuse you can pull, but I can't remember off of the top of my head which one it is. Check out www.lxforums.com and search adaptive learning reset and you'll get alot of hits.

It's a decent site with alot of knowledgeable guys on the LX cars.

There is also a mod where guys run a heavy gage ground wire from the throttle body to a frame ground and guys claim it makes better throttle response, it's something to do with gettin rid of "dirty" electrical signals that mess with the drive by wire. I have no idea if it works but guys swear by it, especially the RAM guys. I think they call them hyper grounds

Thanks. Looks like one way to do it is disconnect the battery cables and hold them together for 20 minutes to do a "hard reset".

Most drivers notice an immediate change in throttle response, but depending on your driving style, you may need to repeat this procedure periodically due to the computer's adaptive programming. You likely need to repeat this procedure any time the battery is disconnected.

I find the newer cars with the drive by wire tend to be a lot more sensitive to your foot than the old cable op jobs. On my car (07 civic) the pedal has almost no tension or resistance on it so it makes it harder to find a foot position and keep it there. That and I think they program the cars to be very sensitive to make you feel like the car has a lot of pep when driving around town. Mine has the cruise button on the steering spoke right by my thumb so I use the cruise button all the time around town.
