This car is running great(knock on wood). Last time out she ran 9.42@141 1.28 60'. I would love to change to a set of B-1's or Indy 440-1's all done. I am running the 452's all done.

That is impressive. I would leave the heads as is if it were me. Nobody can talk smack about that performance.

Sounds like a heck of a running car. When you say 452 heads are you talking OEM iron factory 452's or the Mopar Performance Aluminum 452's? What does the car weigh?

Hey Thanks Fellas...
This is a formula that although may be antiquated according to Ken Lizzari of Indy, Heb McCandless and Ken built this combo in 1985 for my Uncle who foot braked it, no electronic's and ran 10.12 all day long. The car weigh's 3,358+ 250 for my fat azz, then SS Spring's and Ladder Bar. Stock everything else, Heat, Radio, all orig seats, only fiberglass is Hood and Bumper's. Over the year's the motor was shipped every 2 season's back to Herb for a fresh up. The 452's have an incrediable amount's of work and have cracked between the Intake Port's once. Herb re-did another set of 452's that have made a tad bit more power and are still in the car today, never hurt.

The combo:
451 stock block
452 steel heads(tons of work)
Roller 714 lift, custom grind
Crane Gold adj RR
JE Custom Piston's 12.7 to 1 comp
Holley Single Port Matched
BG Dominator stage 3+++++
Hemi Steel Crank
Bill Miller Allum Rod's
Smith Bros Push Rod's
Water Pump drive
Dbl Roller Timing Chain
Cook's Header's- custom
Mopar Valve Cover's.
NOS 100 plate Shot

The Car run's 9.85@136 on Horse Power and with a light shot, 100 HP from the plate, the car run's 9.42-43 all day long at 141MPH and 1.28 60'. The trans is a 727 by Dynamic in CT and has all the best stuff possible and a trans brake. The converter by Frank Lupo(Dynamic's Harold's brother) and is a 4,500, 9" J-type converter with balloning Plate's and rest of good stuff. The rear is a well built Dana 60, 456, race spool, 35 spline built by Randy's Ring/Pinion. I also got rid of the SS Spring's and had C&F Bauer here in NY add a 4link, mini tub and strange dbl adj coil over's.The tire is a real 29.5X10" M/T. This car hook's real hard.

As I said, antiquated however proven and still going strong. Motor has not been freshed since 1995 just before Herb retired.

Not really a back half car, mini tubbed to frame rail although made to look stock once trunk is open. I guess a modified rear suspension I would call it. Also the quarters are stock, uncut and the real 10" tires, no "W". Hey Thank You for your interest Brother!

Joe

I would kill for that 60' foot.
I run 451, e heads, 13:1, dominator, solid cam, caltrac, foot brake, In my 65 belvedere , similar weight to yours,,,,,
10.04 is the bet et, 1.38 60', which I can't repeat, usually in the 1.41 to 1.44 range
Do the ladder bars make a big difference for you?
What torsion bar size up front?

Ps, nice car, congrats,,,,, I thought I saw that car for sale a few years back, the paint looks familiar,,,,,

Doug

Hi Doug and Thanks on the comment's.

This car has been in my Family since 75. The car for sale and almost same color which belonged to Billy Bafada here in NY. They were simular in performance and look's but different cars.

This car when I ran the SS Spring's had a best 60' of 1.39 and steady at 1.42-43 and at time's dangerous at top end due to the azz end high up in air. As I said I then had the 4 Link and coilover's professionally installed. Man what a difference. The car come's off the ground even about a foot and haul's azzz out hard! The 60' now 1.28 all day. Worth the money to convert. The Torsion Bars are the stock 273 V8 that came with the car.
