Made the conversion to the factory XHD leafs out back and the Firm Feel front hangers. I installed the springs at the higher front hanger position for the 1" lower option.

Question is would you leave the Factory pinion snubber on the 8 3/4?

Its going to be close....

Or would you cut the rubber snubber off a little for a certain amount of clearance in the at rest position for a Street car not an all out track car.

Thanks

I'm suprised the clearence is that tight. I've been able to use the MP adjustable snubber under cars I've had XHD springs in. Granted, I had to trim it down to allow a lower setting, but it still fit. The stock one that is basically a flat plate with a rubber tip on it, should fit just fine. However, if it doesn't, I'd ditch it unless your making passes at the drag strip.

So in a daily on the street type application with the car setup with the XHD leafs at 1" lower you would leave it off.

Currently it is off the car.

Yes, I'd leave it off. If you go to the dragstrip and have wheel hop issues, then I'd put it on for the day's activities, but thats all.

Interesting, in my Diplomat, stock ride height, the factory pinion snubber hit the floor pan often enough that it was shiny and I never took it to a drag strip.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

Not sure what car you are working on, but my 2 cents is put the factory snubber on. My E-body is pretty low and over some higher speed bigger highway bumps the suspension movement allowed the driveshaft to hit the tunnel just barely, not quite enough to get down to the metal but enough to leave a mark in the paint on the driveshaft. This would not have happened with the factory snubber in place, and I installed it now to prevent this in the future. Rear suspension is Reilly Street Lynx.

i would put it on in case you ever haul me and my kid in the backseat down to the Allucaneatbuffet----otherwise if you are dragracing and your rear end goes down something is really wrong---bob

Under acceleration the pinion rotates about the ring gear in a rotation that rotates the nose of the pinion upward toward the floor, hence the adjustable pinion snubber use for drag racing.

On the car the way it sits today with XHD (Hemi/440) leaf springs the car will actually squat in the rear suspension as the front end lifts shifting weight to the rear of the car.

If you seen all the parts / tools and spare tire etc etc I packed into the trunk you would be amazed. Maybe I should weigh all the junk I had back there for the Hot Rod Power Tour, U Of I at Champaign Illinois leg of the event from the burbs of Chicago.

So far I still have the snubber off and it looks like the pinion snubber will stay off. There are still other bump stops that limit suspension travel in the rear suspension.

The car still leaves off the line pretty hard all things considered when you factor in the 2.94 axle ratio that is out back currently.......
