Rick Cassell of Hemi Parts Connection is building a 1980 HEMI Nostalgia Pro Stock Plymouth Arrow. Cassell says the plan is to make the Arrow a Bob Glidden replica. Glidden is best known for running Fords, but did have a Pentastar product. [6/1/2012]

Cool but Glidden ran a small block IIRC. W2 or W5 motor dont remember. They won every race they entered I think. I think in an interview, they tossed the motor together and ran it. Didn't do anything too crazy and never really made any changes the whole year. But sometimes my memory is a little fuzzy.

I hope he has written permission from Bob Glidden to use his name if this guy plans on building a clone of Gliddens car. I had heard that Glidden will sue if his name is used on anything that isn't an original car of his....

W-2 for sure. Don't think he got into the W-5, but who knows what Bob was up to.

He lost 1 race in the Arrow on a redlight.

Let him sue. I'm guessing just a clone car.
Nothing to sue for if there is no profit.

As far as the use of Glidden's name, some of the sharper guys registered or trademarked their names, or their cars' name, so they'd have control over that. Can't use it without permission.
IIRC, Glidden helped develop the W2 stuff.

Glidden is a sharp guy, I am sure his name is copy protected. He can leave the name off of it and that is about as far as he can go with it. Glidden may have a case for using the same paint color and scheme but that is hard to prove, sort of. It will then come to money, desire and who has the biggest puddle of pee after the contest.

Just call him and ask.......he is a pretty nice guy based on my meetings with him , and as long as he was sure you weren't going to either cash in on or besmirch his name , I think he would be fine with it.
Heck......he might be honored by the tribute.
I was admiring John Hagen's Arrow today at MoPar's in the park.......they are very cool cars.
I was trying to talk to Bill Golden when they fired it up......sort of terminated that conversation.
I'm not sure which motor ( A Hemi , but he ran a 366 , 387 in low deck and a 500 incher when they changed the rules )they had in it , but man........what a BRUTE that must have been in it's day.
When it comes to the pint sized cars , I still dig the Colt a little better , but these are plenty cool.

True on the name unless you get permission but as
to the color scheme.. I dont know... look at the Jeep
and Hummer grill thing and Chrysler had a lot of
lawyers working on that case and lost... a phone
call might do wonders

I was just talking about that car last night, I believe Jerry Hurley bought it from Glidden and Dempsey Hardy drove it. Heard some good stories from Jerry Hurley's nephew about that car and his 70 hemi cuda from "back in the day".

Didn't Paul Gentilozzi run it for a while and wasn't Glidden's original Arrow restored by someone?
