Are you sure the first one pictured isn't from a mid-'70s Cordoba/Magnum/etc.?
Are the mounting points the same?

There are a few '70-'74 E & '71-'74 B "SLAP STICK" shifter indicators that say "SHIFT GATE" ..... anyone know the WHY? WHEN? WHO? WHAT? & WHERE? concerning those? ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shruggy.gif)

Slap Stick is printed on all 1970 to 1972 lenses. The exception was on some cars built before Oct 16th 1969. In 1973 the Slap Stick word was removed.

I've got a fairly late build 73 Challenger with a 4/2/73 SPD. Bought the car when it was 6 mos. old, so I'm reasonably sure the shifter is original to the car, and it has the Slap Stik lettering.

There are no for sure rules, and exceptions to everything, but in general those dates should be close. What we know is that there was both used for sure. Quote:
