If I have Mopar performance ignition, should I up the plug gap from .035 to .040 as some suggest?

A bigger gap(within reason) means a bigger spark kernel to get things going provided the ign system can handle it. bottom line is if it isn't missing at the end of the strip(or street ) you're good & going from 035 to 040 is nowhere near pushing the limits. I would check & correct the rotor phasing as any excessive distance there is using up spark energy that would be of better use between the plug gap. EDIT & extend the rotor tip w solder as excessive gap there same thing.

.045-.050 is recommended if your ignition system can fire it. Higher octane fuel actually needs more spark to fire it. Sometimes .035 doesn't show enough spark length to ignite the fuel so it needs .045 or .050. Your engine will idle and run better at .045.

MP ign still calls for .035. If you run an MSD ign then it calls for a wider gap from .040 to .060. I run my MP ign at .035 and I use 92 or 93 pump and it works good with the .035 gap. Ron

Can anyone confirm what the plug gap is for the FBO ignition system?

EDIT:
I emailed Don and he said to set them for .040".
