Does anyone have good photos of a production line original 1971 340 manual trans (dual point iron Prestolite)distributor cap?

What's the latest year you've seen a black cap on a dual point?

If I remember correctly the magazine article showing the 1st 1970 Hemi cuda vert when it was new ( the red/red one) it had a black cap on it.

BUT, by part number I think it's 'supposed' to stop after 1965 models with 1966 to be the 1st time the tan one shows up.

NOW, is this written in stone? Absolutely not!!!!! (see above)

The problem I'm having is that while I've seen a few survivor 71 340 cars, all have been automatics (and had tan caps). I don't have any unmolested examples of 71 340 manual trans survivors to reference and have wondered if they are also tan (likely) but possibly black as well? Any input is appreciated.

I was just going through the parts books and it looks like the 2585000 cap first showed up in 1964 on the Hemi only. The other big blocks used a 1658534 for the dual point distributors.
They may be interchangeable, but they are two different caps and the neither superseded the other.
All the small blocks from the 66 273 up to the 71 340 that used dual point distributors, used the 2585000 caps.
The 1658534 is not listed as being used by any of the car engines past 65. This does not mean that the truck or industrial engines stopped using it past 65.
No mention of color.
