340 motor with mild cam/msd ignition. Demon carb ran like crap so I bought a 750 proform...double pump. Running lean as plugs are gray to white. Original jets were 74/80(primary,secondary) Changed to 78 and 84...#1 and 2 plugs are gray...and 7 looks just about right as brown, bordering on black. (performer intake) Ran car at idle and sprayed intake with carb cleaner and besides being much cleaner, I saw/heard no leaks or increase/decrease in idle.

I can up the jets some more but would like all plugs to look like #7

air jets also need changing ?

Thanks to any in advance...Thanks moparts

I've read that the quickest test to determine lean/rich was to let it idle and cover the primaries with your palms. If the engine speeds up, you are TOO lean.
If it doesn't help, I'll refund the money.

that test would lead Me to a gasket/intake/carb leak of air somewhere

I like my spark plug porclyn to be white, the ground strap to be gold to blue tinted gold with a very fine small, narrow, mark across the MIDDLE of the bend on the ground strap, 1 1/2 to 3 threads on the main body to be black to dark grey color

Let me clear up what I'm trying to say, Mopar V8 like to be ran leaner(cleaner spark plugs) than SB Chevys do The mixture and heat range of the spark plug determine what the spark plug will look like,I'm going to post a picture of 4 spark plugs out of my motors, the plug on the right is out of a motor dyno tested with race gas( it made 727 HP at 5900 RPM with a AFR of 13.3 at WOT ), the other three are out of my pump gas motor. The second plug from the right is a current one with the tune on the carb. almost perfect, 13.8 to 14.5 AFR at cruise RPM, the one on the left is to fat, 12.8 to 13.3 at cruise RPM and the one next to it is marginally rich I hope this helps, Mopars are not like every other motor out there, they run better when tuned up properly
