Hi i have some problems with my stock holley 4160 570cfm on my 440 -67 300,i have not driven this car so much yet because it is not inspected but on friday its inspection and im getting to have little panic,i had some small issues with the carb and ignition earlier but they are fixed, the acc pump did leak but not no more, and i did also borrow my friends new mecanical fuel pump that flows more and i assume that its not made for stock engines? but the problem is that it flows over when i shut it of,even when the engine is cold,i think the fuel comes out at the throttle linkage at the passenger side, not so much fuel, only very little, but i havent driven it warm so i dont know how much it will flow over then, i also know that the carb has been redone twice.
Problem 2 is that it is coming upp oil att the intake bolt at each side of the carb.
Bye the way it bought the car in the states and it is in sweden now.
Thanks /Petri

1 check your float level
2 check fuel pressure
3 leaking at the throttle shafts meen that the bores are worn. You need to have them bored and bushed.
4 pull the leaking bolts. all the intake bolts on a BB go into the head where ol can get splashed onto them.
I am truckless..

Pull the bolts and clean all the oil off them. Then put Ultra Black silicone on the threads. Worked for me

Well, those so-called junk carbs are the backbone of the American high performance world. There are more Holleys on hot cars and trucks than all others combined.
So what is the number stamped into the front of the choke air horn? It is either a List number or an R-number.
The power valve issue is real, but can be solved. Late Holleys have power valve protection built in. There is a kit for older Holleys that costs about $10. It is easy to install and protects the PV. I have never had a power valve fail, but if it does, the car will be almost impossible to idle and make a lot of black smoke. It's not like you don't know it's happening. And what kind of problems could result? If you drive it far enough, I guess you could get a lot of gasoline in your motor oil. But usually a blown PV is quite apparent.
The other gripe about Holleys is that they can leak. That's true, but in the last 10 years Holley and others have started making better, reusable gaskets and as a result my Holley carbs don't leak.
Holley carbs are tunable, and more people know how to tune one than an AFB or AVS or Quadrajet.
However, if your 800 Edelbrock passed emissions on your 440 I can see no reason to take it off. They seem to be carbs that everyone loves.
