Hey guys I have a problem. I just put my motor back in my 69 charger and went to turn it over the first click turns the electric fuel pump on and then when I go to turn the car over nothing. Last year I had this problem at the track and it was the bottom wire on the solenoid came loose put it back on and it fired right up. The weird thing is when I jump it at the solenoid the starter engages but nothing at the key. I'm missing something but just can't think of what. Thanks

Neutral saftey switch?
Starter relay?
Theres only so many parts. If you can jump the solenoid then I would try a relay

putting a mopar back together same thing, was the neutral safety switch. it ohm'd fine, just had to jiggle the shift lever a few times to get it to kick over. is your shifter in? is the trans in park? (back)

clutch safety switch????

same idea as the neutral safety switch.when the clutch is depressed it completes the ground, (i think, or it breaks the ground) either way....
if u have power at the IGN on position, then the problem isn't in your IGN switch (most likely). your powering your fuel pump so we can assume the IGN switch works, if u jump the starter relay does it turn over? (out of gear) if so then i would try to locate and isolate the clutch safety switch. its going to be something simple, it always is.... the longest most frustrating problems will be overlooked because "its too simple it cant be that"

millions of years ago[it seems like....] i had a similar problem with my charger. the starter was good, and i checked/replaced the relay/ns switch etc. it would always start jumping the relay. found out the problem was the 10ga. wire from the relay to the battery/starter solinoid had a bad spot in it. replaced that wire[battery cable positive] and it has been ok since.as simple as it was, it was very frustrating to find. i've had the car since 1970.

Have you wiggled/checked the main harness going into the column? All the main voltage and start circuits go through the switch. If youve had the harness apart or column out the the connection may not be making good contact?
