Sorry I thought you had 2 field wires so its easy to use the newer race regulator EDIT I run a MSD also so your correct you dont run a ballast so just eliminate that from the pic... it still goes to a switched 12v... I just re wire my Rampage and did all this

On a MSD set up the coil is fed from the MSD box and is more than 12 volts. Feed the regulator from the same source as the msd box small red(ign run input)

I agree... take it from any switched 12v source dont rob the coil

As I remember thats a replacement for the old regulator with new electronics.
(2)wires to the reg. 12volt+ input, (1) field wire output, ground the case(chassis) If you are using that with a newer 2 field terminal ALT you will need to ground 1 field teminal on the ALT and run the other field terminal to the regulator field teminal.
The newer 72 up style REG works different field for ALT grounds thru the REG. They do not wire the same.

yes thats the monster, was going to wire reg post to field, reg side wire to other field on alt, then sence wire from reg post to 12 volts somewhere for reg to see draw and,go into charge mode. and would give msd box and whole car 13.5 volts soon as fires instead of the 12.2-12.5 now.
The regulator wont help a bit IF the voltage isnt there to begin with.. the regulator takes care of the top end of the voltage... as in when to shut it off... if you want to increase the output you start with a bigger alt(and some dont charge great at idle) OR you increase the speed of the alt as in pulley size but make sure you dont over rev the alt... you can start spitting the epoxy and rotor wires off of it... all alt have a MAX rpm for them... my buddy went through this on his ford till I made him a new pulley size... I run a Denso(production Chrysler alt) 85 amp on the race car and the same one on my Rampage street/drag car with the P3690731 race regulator... I havent put a charger on that car in YEARS
