Anyone know the correct color for the screens in the '69 Road Runner air grabber hood?

Also, what color are the solid inserts on a non-air grabber version?

Thanks.

Screens are red

Black offs are black.

Couldn't tell you the correct paint codes or shades

I believe it's more like this:

Screens are BLACK without V21
Screens are RED with V21

Block off (non Air Grabber) are BLACK

Screens are RED regardless of V21 or not IMO. Red screens went with the Air Grabber not the stripes. We can argue that there ARE some black screens that were produced (or replaced) but when you ordered the Air Grabber you expected to get RED screens with or without hood stripes or color of the car body.

The shade of red is simular or the same as 1969 R4 red, not FE5 Rallye red, like you see on repainted screen these days.

Screens on both my 69 X's were red...

The owner of this '69 GTX has the before original photos of the red grills (window sticker and broadcast sheet). And when I ordered my '69 road runner in '69 with the Air Grabber there was an ad that stated the Air Grabber came with "fire breathing red grills". As I said I've seen some black grills but I'd bet if someone had the engineering drawings it would read they should be red.

That's what I believe too. V21 has no effect

Most were red, but a significant percentage of early production were black...

Thanks for all the feedback and the link to the other thread. It's all perfectly Mopar clear. LOL.

I'll pass it along to the guy who asked me the question.

I only had two RR's with the air grabber, both without the black hood treatment and both with black screens. One was a Hemi car with Nov SPD and I don't know the other SPD. If I was voting based on my experience I would say red only came with the hood treatment?

And I would vote the other way; V21 has nothing to do with red vs. black screens. I believe that the black screens were an early production and/or plant thing and had nothing to do with the stripes. My opinion only.
