Good work!
Thanks, the first pull with the Dominator was 722hp and then 734 on the second. This thing just keeps getting stronger every pull.
I'm pretty happy with it since it's a budget setup with small heads. I'm a little worried about cap walk, I don't think that little 440 source main girdle is going to take the abuse.

stock main caps? studied?
Yes, but I'm going to install a main girdle, but I'm not liking the smallish looking 440 source piece. Any Suggestions? Thanks!

Nice new pull! I estimated 750 hp in your first post ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)
You are across the safety threshold with the stock caps. But, your max hp RPMs arent bad, 6200. I dont think Id want to rev above that on a regular basis with your power.
That's right good guess! I feel better now that it's making a little more steam but now I'm getting worried about how much torque that bottom end can take.

Never dynoed my stuff, but the engine in the Mirada still has the stock caps on it with ARP main studs. That was a no fill stock block too. It was also "happiest" being shifted at 5800 and trapped at 6200. I'm quite certain the low rpms is why that engine is still alive after all these years. Guess if I were "looking" for a better way on that combo it would have been aluminum main caps.
Funny you mention that Jay, the first block I tried with this combo had aluminum caps but it was an old Alky block that was filled to the brim with hardblock so I couldn't keep it cool on gas so I had to get another block.

My old stock block combo ran reliably with a similar combo for years it was not till I tried to ring more horsepower with higher rpm's with a bigger cam when the block split
76 Duster
work in progress

Cool, I'm thinking of shifting it at 6500, do you think it will live?
