It seems that I'll end up with a 360/904 combo and I'm looking for a body to put it into. I've stumbled upon this:

http://www.sauto.cz/osobni/detail/plymouth/ostatni/8981202?goFrom=list

Considering it's already in my country, it's dirt cheap (something like $1400), and I think that with a V8, it may make a nice street beast for a few pennies...

What would I need to swap a V8 in this? Do I have to change the K-member? Does anyone make V8 mounts for F-bodies? Will the tranny fit?

Thanks for answers!

The slant 6 (3.7) transmission wont fit a V8, so you will need a small block V8 transmission. You will also need to swap to a 318 passenger car oil pans if the 318 is from a truck.

I will have a 904 from '68 Coronet, which should fit. The 360 is from a Jeep, so I guess I'll need to look if there's an oil pan from that Coronet as well...

I can guarantee that if the Coronet has it's original engine the oil pan will not fit a 360. The 360 uses a unique to the 360 oil pan. Also, depending on the year of the Jeep you may have an AMC 360 not a Chrysler one and they are not the same.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

Well, looks like I gotta find a 360 pan, then. And I'm pretty sure that the engine is a Mopar one - it's from a friend who bought my old '68 Coronet, bought a few other Mopar engines for it, then sold it and now he's about to buy my '79 B-300 Van, from which I want to keep the engine - but to save the hassle, we may just keep it where it is and I take this Jeep engine...

Heck, I hope it does make sense...

BTW, I have basically a choice between the '79 360-2bbl van engine and some kind of 80s (maybe 90s) Jeep 360. Which is better?

And, is there anything worth swapping on the pre-smogger 318 2-bbl? (from the 68 Coronet)

Nice 80, dont see a lot of them
I'd go with the van 360. Does it have a trans? You should be able to use either a 904 or 727 in the F. Same trans x-member for all. The wagon probably has an 8-1/4 and HD rear brakes w/finned drums. Both of the wagons I had did. The bent t-bars leave a lot of choices for exhaust manifolds.

I believe all the Jeeps with mopar 360's used the magnum 360 instead of the LA360. The magnum engines offer quite a few advantages over the older LA engines. I would verify that the Jeep does in fact have a 360. Most of the mopar powered Jeeps used the 318 magnum.

If the car must pass a smog inspection, a 79 engine probably won't pass in a 1980 car. (assuming the inspector realizes the engine has been swapped) As I understand it, a newer engine will frequently pass in an older car, so long as all the emission components are kept on the newer engine. The best plan would be to talk with the smog folks before swapping the engine.

I believe the 1991 and older Jeeps used the AMC 360 engine. The AMC 360 has a decent reputation. I don't know of any parts to bolt an AMC engine into a mopar F body though. With a welder, torch and enough time and money, it could be done. A mopar 360 would be MUCH easier though!

Smog check is not an issue - I would have to get antique plates anyway, which means anything at least remotely original is good to go.

As for the engine, I'll check. If it's AMC 360, I'm keeping the van engine. But it's highly improbable - the guy had the engine apart, as well as the 318 from my Coronet. And he ain't that stupid to not tell the difference

Use whatever 360 is in the best condition.
