I would like to know if it is better to run a tighter valve lash than the cam card recomendation when using roller rockers.
I have a 440 with a comp cams solid lifter setup .502 lift. The cam card says .016 intake and .018 exaust. I am using Harland Sharp rockers. Would it be better for the roller bearings in the rockers if I ran less lash gap? maybe .012 lash?

the type of rocker doesn't dictate lash settings. the rocker ratio will affect minimum settings. i wouldn't do .012. thats about .008 at the lobe with a true 1.5 rocker and those harland sharps will probably measure a true 1.6. i use .010 clearance at the lobe as the minimum hot setting. so, multiply .010 by the true rocker ratio and use that as the minimum.

What is the reasoning behind this? The higher ratio accuracy of a roller vs. stamped?
