Hi everyone,

thinking about bying a modified cross ram intake for my Belvedere. Max wedge port size.
I am not familar with the cross rams, can someone comment the modification on this intake and will it work on a 500+cui stroker w/ max wedge port size heads?
Thanks,
Frank

Great street intake. I ran an modified and an unmodified one on a 500 stroker. 13-1,270@.050 roller, box stock Indy-1. At 3400lbs it ran a best of 10.13@133. On the dyno it made 701 HP. The new Indy C-25 is a big pick-up. between 50-100HP over a stock cross ram. Most of the modified ones I have seen were of very little improvement over a stocker.

That modification only increased the plenum volume, the area that Diamond/ Alkins modified was to raise the interconnection a least 1/2".Jim Cavaliera once told me that none of the manifolds, stock or modified work well and were detrimental to the performance potential of both Wedge and Hemis. Most all sheetmetal X-rams are made with open plenums and no restricted interconnection passages.

Sorry to say a modified stock crossram only moved the power band around alittle did not make anymore power. When you realy disect it it is made wrong and you cannot improve on it,runner floors to low and too long entry to head gose up and into head. I have made 775 hp with one and went 9.68 in 3200lb. car. One thing that was interesting is the jetting stayed the same as a 426 cu in as a 500 in.???? Jake

Thanks for the feedback so far...
I am aware of the fact, that the crossrams will be outperformed by other intake styles. Max power is not my main concern - I shoot for a powerful street engine and the looks of the crossram. The one in question and pictured above was offered to me for lets say a reasonable price (as far as reasonable and cross ram can go together in one sentens). Anyway as long as the mods do not make it worse than what it is I think I am going to buy it

That appears to be an original cross ram that has been heavily modified. If so, it is an interesting hot rod part and it would look great on an "old school" type race car.

You can make more power with a single 4bbl intake but that doesn't sound like what you're after. If you want the old school look then that manifold should be perfect for you.

Hows the traction in Hermanland? I used to own two 1963 M.W. cars, everyone that saw the motors for the first time would gasp and ask "what is that" Love them Maxies

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I don't know if it makes any difference but that manifold looks like the one Mopar tooled up a few years ago, not one manufatured in the 1960's. I'm no expert but you need to check it out.

I use to run this 1 5 63 MW manifold on my van with a 496 stroker.

Good buy, it'll do exactly what you need and it doesn't have to be "original" You are going to have an awesome car, hood up or down!
How are you able to license it?
