My shifter cable is melted and appears to be a little long. How long of a cable do you have and is it too long as well?

Thanks

Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first.
Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

I changed over to a linkage type shifter for the very same reason. I melted one in trafic in Biloxi last year.Had to call a buddy to bring a trailer and come rescue me. This is all on the 57 truck.
1957 Dodge truck, Snakeskin Green with a little stroker motor. 1964 Plymouth Savoy wagon ( my new project)
