I installed the Comp Cam 23-712-9 Xtreme Energy cam (286/294 duration with .544 / .541 lift), Comp valve springs (925-16 395lbs/in), with matching retainers and 10* locks to my stroked 440 (440Source heads).
I am ready to order the hydraulic roller lifters, but have read of different 'issues' (that was the extent of the article) with the Comp brand. I did run a set of off-brand internet cheapo's with a quick (142 miles) failure of two of the slide bars.
I will not be taking this over 5500rpm (street). I am looking at the comp, lunati and Hughes Engine brand roller lifters.
Anyone have experience / preferences with these brands (concerning longevity for this setup)?
Thanks

I have the Hughes ones in my 505, but it's still on the engine stand?
Been waiting to see if The Passion 5-speed will be released, but now, I'm just going to throw the old 833 back in so I can drive the car.

I have the same cam as you for my 500" and I bought the Comp Rollers. I am hoping they hold together, I read the same posts but I spent enough for them already 3 years ago. I am installing the Eddy's now on my 440 (same ones will go on my 500") and I settled on the Harland Sharp rockers (I sold the cheapo's from 440Source I had previously purchased, the needle bearings had issues).

I wish I could give you some real world experience on the lifters. They came highly acclaimed before all the reports came out about the slides failing prematurely. They are sitting in a box ready to be installed.

Thanks. I will be buying them (whatever the brand 'them' is) later this summer after I enjoy and drive the car (70 Challenger) a bit. I installed a Lunati (VooDoo) flat tappet for now. It runs great, but no comparison to the roller (sound or torque).
